Case Study: The Tower of London, Beefeater and Crown Jewels Tour

The Tower of London is one of London’s most visited heritage sites, built in 1066 by William the Conqueror it is a formidable fortress, royal palace and notorious prison. It is open to the public at certain times of the day (10:00-16:30) but, members of the public do not have access to everything…

‘Beefeater’ is a nickname for the Yeoman Warders, who have been guarding the Tower of London since the Tudor era. ‘Beefeater’ guards consist of 32 men and women who are all drawn from the Armed Forces. You will be met, guided, and tutored by one of the Beefeaters during your VIP time at the Tower of London.

The Crown Jewels are stored, and placed on display, at the Tower of London. They have been there since 1661, and there is a long-standing tradition of keeping precious items there.
